Dinner at Fune
After going to the Toronto Marlies game we headed over to Japanese restaurant, Fune, on Simcoe Street south of Adelaide. It's sister restaurant to Yamato in Yorkville (both of whom we deliver hot towels to).
I have to say, I wish I had brought my camera, but I didn't. The best I could do was use Will's wife, Carolyn's, iPhone to take a few shots.
It's a nice looking place for sure. A bit more upscale a restaurant than I'd normally go to. But with that upscale interior came an upscale price. While not outrageous, my 8-piece sushi combo with California roll came in at $27.
Quality-wise, it was better than what I'd typically have at an All-You-Can-Eat joint. But, to me, just. For the same dinero I could have gone to local favourite, Echo, and ate until I couldn't move. Just saying...

Downtown Street Art
I took a walk downtown on Friday. I was going to meet my friend, Gabe, for dinner and then catch a movie.
Since it was my day off I got down there a bit early with my camera. I knew there were some events going on. One was the 1-year countdown to the start of the 2015 Pan Am Games here in Toronto. They had some sort of thing going on at Nathan Philips Square.
I didn't actually end up going there. Instead I walked through King's College Circle at U of T, then made my way through Chinatown. I thought I'd document some of the street art I had seen on the buildings down there.
I think most of the ones I took pictures of were commissioned. They're quite high end. There was one on a garage on Huron Street that was probably done by some kids. But even that was quite good too.
Since it was late afternoon not all locations were ideal for shooting. Some were in dark shadows so I wasn't able to capture everything I saw.
The art in Kensington Market was really good. There was a lot of it. I think semi-professionally done. Not all of it is noticeable from the street. You have to go down some alleyways to find them.
If you do the work you'll get rewarded though. There are a lot of hidden gems around there.

Sunday Afternoon Downtown
After church and after lunch last Sunday I went for a walk downtown with my friend Kerry. It was a bit overcast out, but that was fine. I brought my camera because I thought I'd like to do some shooting for fun.
Our first stop was Toronto City Hall. I went to check on Richard, but I didn't see him. I haven't seen him very often especially since they started the renovations around Nathan Philips Square. I hope he's doing alright. There's all sorts of construction work around the spot he usually stays at in his wheelchair.
After spending a bit of time at City Hall we walked over to the Eaton Centre. I heard on 680 News they were going to show the closing ceremony of the 2012 Olympics in London there. We found a spot in front of one of the TV sets they had set up in the food court and watched it there.
Though after returning home and watching the news I don't think that was the spot where they had the big showing. Our set was small and had no sound. It looked like they had something set up elsewhere in the mall and were giving out free cupcakes and other things to the people who gathered to watch.
It was getting a bit late by the time the closing ceremony ended. I went up to street level at Yonge Dundas Square and hung out just a little while longer with Kerry before walking back home.
I got a few good shots while I was out. Including the funny one above of Spiderman posing with people. If you gave him some spare change he would hold you and let your friend(s) take a picture. You see all sorts of interesting characters around the city in the summer.
