Birthday Dinner
My friend Will organized a birthday dinner for me this past Saturday. My actual birthdate was the day before, but I went to Tucker's Marketplace for dinner with another friend. On this day we went to another buffet restaurant, Imperial Buffet.
Will invited Big Jon, Dickie and Lawrence. One friend, Richard, was unable to make it. I think this is the first time this particular group of guys has eaten together.
Needless to say, over the past few days I ate a lot of food. But it was good. I enjoyed the time I spent with my friends. Combine it with another one of my favorite pastimes (eating) and how can you go wrong?

Dinner with Dickie

Onion Ring Eyes, photo by Dickie
I went to dinner at Imperial Buffet with Dickie again. We go quite often because I get these coupons for the restaurant from my sister and parents. For some reason they get delivered to their homes in North York while Dickie, who lives in Scarborough where the restaurant is, doesn't receive them. The coupons used to be buy-one-get-one-free. Now the coupon is good for 85% off the second dinner. Still a good deal as far as we're concerned.
As per usual I started off with a few plates of things like fried rice and assorted meat, fish and vegetable dishes. I try not to eat too many fried things, but normally will take 3-4 onion rings. Dickie always heads straight for the crab legs. He's quite good at extracting the meat from the shell. I tried once, but gave up.
To finish things up I'll grab a plate full of fruit. Usually just the pineapple and strawberries. And then I'll grab some dessert like cheese cake and ice cream.
The food here isn't the greatest of quality. But, then again, what can you really expect from a Chinese buffet restaurant? For Dickie and I it's all about eating until you can't move.

Dinner with Dickie, Lawrence and Big Jon

The grub there is fine. You're not going to expect anything extremely tantalizing at a Chinese buffet anyway now are you? They have King Crab legs which Dickie and Big Jon made a beeline for. I'm too lazy to eat them. I can't be bothered to crack the shells and dig the meat out. I know there's a seemingly easy technique that those guys used, but I'm just too impatient. I just want to go up and grab my food and eat. It's okay. For less than $10 per person before tax and tip, how can you complain?
So, Imperial Buffet, you just keep those coupons coming and me and my friends will go there to eat regularly!
